Overview
Los Angeles County Disaster Healthcare Volunteers – LA County Surge Unit (formerly known as LA County ESAR-VHP) is a network created to verify the identity, licensure and credentials of medical, health and mental health care professionals before an emergency occurs. It operates under the coordination of the Emergency Medical Services Agency of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services.
When a natural or man-made disaster occurs, time is better spent mobilizing pre-registered volunteers rather than processing spontaneous unaffiliated healthcare professionals at the time of a disaster. As a health care volunteer, you can sign up online in just minutes. If you need help registering in our online system, please call us at 562-378-2444 and we can help you.
All information you provide in the DHV system is held under the highest degree of care and standards for security, confidentiality and privacy. For additional information, please check the DHV Privacy Policy.
Please contact Lorna Mendoza at (562) 378-2457 or lmendoza3@dhs.lacounty.gov if you have any questions or require additional information about the DHV Program.
